Health and Good Food
For the last few weeks I have found myself starting to feel weak and run down. I have been fighting pain that has become rather unbearable. My conscious mind chalked it up to strange hours I work. Monday – Friday I work 10PM to 8AM. I leave my office at 8AM Friday morning and return 10PM Monday Night. I usually attempt to turn my days around so I can spend some time with my family on the week-ends and then turn the day around again to handle my job.
This usually means I have to sleep during the day Monday – Thursday. You would think living on a farm I would be able to do that. Well I can’t. Two of my 7 grandchildren live in a single wide trailer on my front lawn. As children do they play outside and can be rather loud. Adding to that is a Shooting Range with-in two miles of my home. Sleep is hard to come by.
It was easy for me to pawn my symptoms off on a lack of sleep. I thank the spirits for making the part of my brain that stores the 22 years of road wise street medicine to kick in. For the first time since I can remember I took a serum blood glucose (BG) reading. You see in 2002 I was diagnosed as a Type II Diabetic.
With-in a few short months I had it under control with will power, diet and exercise. Many excuses
later I am no longer under control and in denial. That is until shortly before this post.
So I am going to use ya’ll as my conscious. I am going to continue to post to this thread my daily progress for better or worse. I will include my diet, my weight, and my daily BG levels.
As a baseline:
BG: 210 DL/mg (normal is 90-120 dl/mg).
Weight: 257.9 lbs. (my ideal weight should be > 165 < 185 for my BWI to be with-in norm)
I will start out my post each night at this time with the current BG Average, Weight and dietary intake and exercise for the day. My hope is to shame myself into keeping myself in control by putting my flaws in front of ya’ll.
On occasion I will ask my wife to post here to keep me honest. When I tell her what I am doing and why I can assure you she WILL keep me honest.
