OK it's been a while and a lot has happened since last I posted. I went through a competition and feeding the Marines of 2nd Tanks. I will admit I did have to sample the food cooked and not all of it was low-carb or low glycemic. But that brings up the point of moderation.
Do diabetics have to cut out all forms of sugar. Can they ever taste a sweet bun, or savor an ice cream sundae? Yes, but in moderation. One Donut or ice cream sundae pretty much cleans out the daily allowance, but with proper adjustment they can be consumed.
The same applies to any food on any diet. You can eat a Steak, but 3oz. is all you are supposed to eat. Now a 6oz piece of Tuna is more filling, but sometimes I crave red meat. What happens if you get greedy and eat 6oz? Well you will probably raise your Cholesterol levels. Your calorie intake will be higher and we all know where that goes. But there is hope. More exercise is good, but recent studies have shown it's not just the day to day caloric intake that counts but the overall weekly average. So today you ate 1600 calories on your 1500 calorie diet. Eat 1400 tomorrow.
The major problem here is people don't do that. They put off the lower calorie day and put it off again. Worse they have two high calorie days and never compensate for that. POOF their belly (or other parts of the anatomy) gets bigger. Moderation is a daily game that will have highs and lows, but the average caloric intake should always be your goal.
Keeping a journal of what you eat really does work, but only if you actually are honest in what you put in there. Right down not only what you ate, but how much. Write how many calories you consumed per meal. Add it up at the end of the day.
If you are trying to lose weight your caloric intake should be slightly less then the calories you burn. Maintaining weight intake equal calories burned. Need help figuring out what you burned? Get a heart monitor, or what I have. I have a device called a Sport’s Brain.. There are other devices like the Sport’s Brain so look around and get what you like.
So starting with my next post here I will start posting my average calories consumed and burned.
Till next time!!
